TAUNTON — Chief Edward Walsh reports that the Taunton Police Department is investigating the shooting of a 16-year-old juvenile male.
On Saturday, Aug. 16, at approximately 5:45 a.m., Taunton Police Department officers were called to the area of Church Street by multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots.
Upon arrival, officers discovered several spent shell casings at the scene and began an investigation. A short time later, officers learned that a 16-year-old juvenile male who was suffering from a gunshot wound arrived at Morton Hospital seeking treatment.
That individual was transferred from Morton Hospital to a regional trauma center for treatment of a wound that appears to be serious but non-life-threatening.
The incident remains under investigation by the Taunton Police Department Detective Division.
