STONEHAM — Chief James O’Connor reports that the Stoneham Police Department arrested and charged a Stoneham man with breaking into a church.

RICARDO RUBIO, AGE 39, of STONEHAM, was arrested and charged with:

  • Breaking and Entering in the Night

On Tuesday, July 15, at approximately 10:15 p.m., the Stoneham Police Department was called to St. Patrick’s Church, 71 Central St., for a report of a burglary alarm sounding.

Officers arrived to discover an open window to a lower level of a church, with the window’s screen discarded. A sweep of the building that included a K9 found no one inside.

Evidence collected at the scene enabled Stoneham Police detectives to identify RUBIO as a suspect. RUBIO was subsequently located at his home in Stoneham and taken into custody without incident.

RUBIO was arraigned Wednesday in Woburn District Court.

“I want to recognize the prompt and professional work of our patrol officers and detectives in responding to the recent incident at the church,” Chief O’Connor said. “Fortunately, no items of value were taken, and our team was able to quickly identify those responsible. We hope this swift resolution brings a sense of reassurance to the church community.”

These are allegations. All defendants are innocent until proven guilty.
