Ludlow Police Arrest Two Springfield Men on Drug-Related Charges

LUDLOW — Chief Daniel Valadas reports that the Ludlow Police Department arrested two men from Springfield on multiple drug-related charges.

JOEL CARRERO, AGE 43, of SPRINGFIELD, was arrested and charged with the following:  

  • Disorderly Conduct 
  • Assault with a Dangerous Weapon 
  • Possession of a Class B Substance (Subsequent Offense) 
  • Carrying of a Dangerous Weapon 

ANTHONY GONZALEZ, AGE 48, of SPRINGFIELD, was arrested and charged with the following:  

  • Disorderly Conduct  
  • Assault with a Dangerous Weapon 
  • Possession of a Class B Substance 

On Monday, July 14, at approximately 1:39 p.m., Ludlow Police responded to Gamache Drive for reports of two males that appeared to be fighting over a lottery ticket, one armed with a knife.  

Upon arrival, officers located and detained two males, identified as CARRERO and GONZALEZ.

One of the men sustained a laceration on his arm and was treated at the scene by Ludlow Fire Department Paramedics. There were no other injuries.  

During a preliminary search of CARRERO and GONZALEZ’s persons, officers located what was believed to be crack cocaine.  

CARRERO and GONZALEZ were arrested without incident.  

CARRERO and GONZALEZ were arraigned in Palmer District Court and released on $250 cash bail.
