BILLERICA — Police Chief Roy Frost is pleased to report that the Billerica Police Department is offering special breast cancer awareness patches in an effort to raise funds for the Ellie Fund, a local breast cancer support organization.
Beginning Thursday, Oct. 17, the Billerica Police Department will offer new pink Billerica Police Department patches in exchange for a $10 donation to the Ellie Fund, a local organization that provides free grocery assistance, transportation, housekeeping, childcare reimbursement, prepared meals, and more to Massachusetts families who are battling breast cancer.
To get a patch, residents can visit the Billerica Police Station, 6 Good St., Enterprise Bank, 223 Boston Road, or Hanscom Federal Credit Union, 199 Boston Road, and reserve a patch by signing a reservation sheet.
When the patches come in later this month, those on the reservation sheet will be contacted in order to receive their patch. Each patch will be sent to residents in exchange for a $10 donation to the Ellie Fund. This is a limited production patch, and only the first 200 people to sign up are guaranteed to receive patches.
The patches are being purchased with donations from several local organizations — Hanscom Federal Credit Union, Enterprise Bank, and the Billerica Rotary Club — so that all donations for the patches will go directly to the Ellie Fund.
“I want to offer my profound gratitude to Enterprise Bank, Hanscom Federal Credit Union and Enterprise Bank for making donations that enabled us to purchase these patches,” said Chief Frost. “Thanks to the generosity of these organizations, all proceeds from these patches will go toward our charity of choice.”
“The Ellie Fund is very proud and grateful to be the breast cancer charity that the Billerica Police Department chose to partner with in 2024,” said Ellie Fund Executive Director Meredith Mendelson. “We are committed to serving every breast cancer patient in active treatment who lives in Massachusetts or who is receiving treatment here. We do not require any proof of financial need and our services are free to all of our patients.”
