BOURNE — Superintendent Kerri Anne Quinlan-Zhou and Bourne Middle School Principal Christine Borning are pleased to share that eighth-grader Audrianna Morse was recently awarded Artsonia’s Artist of the Week award.

Morse won the award the week of Feb.12, after submitting her mixed media artwork to the Artsonia voting competition. Morse won Artist of the Week for grades six to eight, earning 516 votes.

“I would like to congratulate Audrianna Morse for this outstanding achievement,” said Principal Borning. “It is truly exciting to see the pride that our students take in their artwork and to watch them grow as artists throughout this process.”

“We also appreciate the hard work of our art teacher, Ms. Meg Girouard who supports students in building their foundational art skills, expressing their ideas through art, and helping all students share their artwork on Artsonia,” said Principal Borning.

Artsonia is the world’s largest collection of student art, published by teachers and students from around the world. Parents and family can view the art online, leave comments and order keepsakes featuring the artwork.

Artsonia developed the Artist of the Week award 15 years ago to encourage teachers to submit student artwork and engage the school and community in voting on and recognizing students for their creative achievements. Every week, Artsonia selects 12 random submissions in each of four different age groups (Pre K-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12) from artwork submitted the previous week. Voting is open to the public for several days before the winner is announced.

Blick Art Materials donates a $100 gift certificate to the winning school and a $50 gift certificate to the student artist. Morse will also receive a plaque with an image of her artwork and name to commemorate her achievement.
