UXBRIDGE — Principal Michael Rubin and Director of Athletics Beth Wandyes are pleased to share that a group of Uxbridge High School student-athletes attended the Nashua Sport Management Summit on February 23 at Rivier University in Nashua, N.H.
Six students from Uxbridge High School took time off during February vacation to attend the career conference, designed to inspire and aid career hopefuls in making connections in sports management professions.
“Our students shined at the Career Fair,” Director of Athletics Beth Wandyes said. “They were challenged to articulate their passion for sports, and hearing their excitement and learning moments throughout the event was contagious.”
Students enjoyed networking with industry professionals, learning about the different career paths for those interested in the sports management field, and listening to panelists who work for top companies such as the Boston Celtics, ESPN, and the Boston Red Sox.
Mason Sanford, a senior, found that the most vital information that he received was learning what qualities top organizations look for in internship candidates.
Although most of the attendees were college-age, Uxbridge High School students highlighted the importance of being exposed to networking experiences early.
“The panels gave a lot of great insight on the college and professional experiences that hopefully can guide me in the future,” said Liam Kaferlien, a junior.
“I’m grateful for these opportunities and how our students represent themselves and our school,” said Principal Rubin. “Any program that allows our students to gain valuable insight into their goals, career opportunities, and future selves is valuable and connects directly to the philosophy of learning at UHS.”
