ACTON — The Acton Fire Department responded Sunday afternoon to a kitchen fire on Harvard Court and discovered a fire that was knocked down by a sprinkler system.

On Sunday, Oct. 18, at 3:33 p.m., the Acton Fire Department was called to 5 Harvard Court for a report of a smoke detector sounding in one of the units in the building.

On arrival, firefighters discovered that a sprinkler system had knocked down an apparent grease fire in the kitchen of the middle unit in the multi-unit building,

There was smoke and water damage to the unit where the fire occurred, but no other damage. There were no reported injuries.

“This incident once again shows how affective sprinkler systems are,” said Chief Anita Arnum. “We are grateful this incident was not more serious thanks to the efficient work of this technology.”
