BILLERICA — The Billerica Police Department responded to a bomb threat at Billerica Memorial High School early this morning.
Following a preliminary investigation, including a search of the building, it was determined the threat was not credible and that there was no danger to the school community or the public.
At 6:15 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 15, Billerica police received a report of a bomb threat to the high school.
The threat was made before any students had entered the building. As students arrived at the school, they were brought to a field on school property under the supervision of staff.
The NEMLEC K-9 Unit and STARS (Student Threat Assessment Response) team assisted the Billerica Police Department in searching the school building to ensure the building was safe for students to enter. Billerica Schools Superintendent’s Office and BMHS administrators’ Crisis Response Team also assisted with the response.
Students were able to return to class around 9 a.m.
The incident remains under investigation by Billerica Police.
