Maynard Public Schools Shares School Choice Information for 2026-2027 School Year

MAYNARD — Maynard Public Schools reminds parents that School Choice registration is open for the 2026-2027 school year.

In February, the Maynard School Committee voted to continue in the state school choice program for the coming school year. Applications are due by June 18. If there are more applicants than seats available, choice students will be selected in a random drawing.

There are open seats in each school throughout the district, including:

  • Green Meadow Elementary: 8 seats available (two in Kindergarten, three in Grade 1, and three in Grade 2)
  • Fowler School: 23 seats available (one in Grade 4, five in Grade 5, seven in Grade 6, two in Grade 7, and eight in Grade 8)
  • Maynard High School: 20 seats available (10 in Grade 9, and 10 in Grade 10)

School Choice is a state program that allows families to enroll their students in a school outside of their community’s district. Transportation is not provided.

Maynard Schools offers a diverse academic curriculum for students at all grade levels, and fosters a sense of community among residents and students, often interacting with local businesses and public safety officials through community events held each school year.

“Maynard is a special community known for its strong sense of connection, inclusion, and support for education. Despite being a small town, it offers many family-friendly events, a safe and welcoming environment for children, and a vibrant downtown with local restaurants and shops. Maynard also takes pride in celebrating and supporting community members of all ages through sports, events, and recognition of hometown heroes,” said Fowler Principal Keith Kinney.

“All of our students receive a well-versed education that not only maintains the state curriculum but supports our students on each level as they transition to each school within our district,” said Superintendent Haas. “Our goal in Maynard is to foster a collaborative and diverse education, which is a direct result of our vibrant teaching staff and faculty, our close-knit community, and our love for watching our children grow and develop into successful individuals.”
