Thomas Blake Middle School Students Host Successful Performance of ‘Beetlejuice Jr.’

MEDFIELD — Thomas Blake Middle School is proud to share that students recently participated in a successful production of “Beetlejuice Jr.”

A cast and crew of 51 students took to the Thomas Blake Middle School stage on April 9, 11 and 12 to perform the musical adaptation of the cult classic movie. Thomas Blake students performed a version of the show modified for younger performers.

“Congratulations to all of the students involved in this year’s spring musical,” said Principal Nat Vaughn. “For months, the cast and crew dedicated many hours to weekly rehearsals, and the result showed on stage. Their talent and dedication were evident in the singing, dancing and production.”

Performers and crew members from all three grades participated in the musical, including 21 sixth graders, 18 seventh graders and 12 eighth graders. 

The leading cast included: 

  • Mary Samra as Beetlejuice (grade 7)
  • Hannah Wilson as Lydia Deetz (grade 6)
  • Brandon Quinn as Adam Maitland (grade 7)
  • Melina Simmoneau as Barbara Maitland (grade 8)
  • Liv Abba as Delia Schlimmer (grade 7) 
  • Luc Tetrault as Charles Deetz (grade 8) 

The student-led crew included: 

  • Production Manager: Lucy Russell (grade 8)
  • Stage Manager: Cece O’Flaherty (grade 8)
  • Sound Designer: Logan Anderson (grade 8)
  • Lighting Designer: Gracie Mombourquette (grade 7)
  • Prop Designer: Maggie Andrews (grade 7)
  • Costume Designer: Audrey Hall (grade 7)
  • Wig and makeup designer: Layla Mohsenin (grade 6)

The adult staff on the production staff included: 

  • Director: Tyler John
  • Choreographer: Liv Hill
  • Music Director: Renee Hersee

“We are so proud of the cast and crew of ‘Beetlejuice Jr.’” said Theatre Director Tyler John. “It has been an honor to work with these students over the past few months. Each member of the production has grown so much since our first rehearsal. It was wonderful to watch them all gain confidence in themselves and have fun during each performance.”
