LEXINGTON — The William Diamond Junior Fife & Drum Corps will be hosting its annual Lexington Muster and Parade, while celebrating the organization’s 25th anniversary.
WHEN
Saturday, May 2, beginning at 12 p.m., rain or shine.
WHERE
The parade will step off of the Lexington Battle Green and make its way toward Hastings Park, 10 Lincoln St.
Recommended parking locations include Grace Chapel, 59 Worthen Road, Church of Saint Brigid, 1981 Massachusetts Ave., and the lots at Militia Drive.
WHAT
A brief parade featuring 30 fife and drum corps and marching units from across New England will march from the Lexington Battle Green to Hastings Park, kicking off a day of music, history, entertainment and fun.
At the parade’s conclusion, Hastings Park will be give visitors a look at colonial life, including a free concert, featuring fife and drum music representing different eras of American history, and various colonial crafts.
The annual parade is being hosted by the William Diamond Junior Fife & Drum Corps. 2026 marks the 25th anniversary of the organization, which is the largest junior fife and drums corps in New England. The William Diamond Junior Fife & Drum Corps is designed to promote the study of both music and history among young people in Eastern Massachusetts, and to perpetuate the traditions of fife and drum music, and to foster the spirit of fellowship among Americans through music.
On Friday, May 1, at 6:30 p.m., the William Diamond Junior Fife & Drum Corps will be hosting the Lexington Tattoo on the Lexington Battle Green, the site where the Revolutionary War began.
At the Tattoo, four featured fife and drum corps will march from Depot Square to the Lexington Battle Green, where they will then perform the sounds of American music in the tradition of evening military musical performances under lantern light.
About the Lex250 Commission
The Lex250 Commission was established by the Lexington Select Board to make recommendations and coordinate activities that celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Lexington – the first battle of the American Revolution – and other events related to the founding of our country. The Commission continues to plan Town events, including the 2026 battle re-enactment in April and the nation’s 250th birthday on July 4, 2026.
