MAYNARD — Chief Angela Lawless is pleased to announce that the Maynard Fire Department has been awarded a $19,000 grant through the Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant Program, administered by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security and the Department of Fire Services (DFS).
The funding has supported the purchase of safety equipment designed to enhance operational readiness and emergency response capabilities.
Maynard Fire will utilize the funding to cover the partial cost of a new extraction tool. The Department is seeking additional funding at the annual town meeting for the remaining cost.
The grant received by Maynard was among $5 million in grants provided to fire departments across the Commonwealth to improve firefighter safety.
“This equipment will allow us to better serve our department at the highest level,” said Chief Lawless. “Our dedicated staff is looking forward to utilizing the new equipment, and we would like to thank the Department of Fire Services and the state for providing us with the necessary funding.”
