SUDBURY — Chief Timothy Choate reports that the Sudbury Fire Department and its mutual aid partners quickly knocked down a working fire at a Sudbury home on Saturday morning, sparing the interior of the home from fire damage.
On Saturday, July 5, at 10:39 a.m., the Sudbury Fire Department was notified of a vehicle fire at 220 Maynard Road. While companies were en route to the scene, they were updated by dispatch that a van was on fire in the home’s driveway near the home.
Companies arrived to find a van fully involved in flames, with fire spreading to the exterior of the single family home on the property. Companies quickly stretched a hose line and knocked down the bulk of the fire before it could spread to the interior of the home.
The fire was brought under control within 10 minutes. There were no reported injuries. The home was under renovation and no one was displaced.
Firefighters from Maynard and Wayland provided mutual aid at the scene, and firefighters from Framingham, Concord and Stow covered Sudbury Fire stations.
The cause of the initial vehicle fire remains under investigation by the District 14 Fire Investigation Team.
“We’re fortunate, in a sense, that this fire was very close to our Headquarters fire station, because crews were able to get on scene quickly to initiate a quick knockdown,” said Chief Choate. “This was a good stop by the firefighters on duty and our mutual aid partners.”
