Ludlow Police Department to Hold Active Shooter Training for Town Hall Employees

LUDLOW — Town Administrator Marc Strange and Police Chief Daniel Valadas report that the Ludlow Police Department will be holding an ALICE active shooter training for all Town Hall employees next week.

LUDLOW — Town Administrator Marc Strange and Police Chief Daniel Valadas report that the Ludlow Police Department will be holding an ALICE active shooter training for all Town Hall employees next week.

There will be an ALICE training for all Town Hall employees, held by Ludlow Police in collaboration with the Ludlow Board of Health, on Thursday, Oct. 5, from 2-4 p.m. in the Board of Selectman’s conference room. Town Hall will be closed during this time, so that all employees can attend.

ALICE, which stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate, is a training that helps prepare individuals to handle the threat of an active shooter. It also teaches individuals to participate in their own survival, while leading others to safety during an act of violence.

The training will be provided by members of the department certified in ALICE instruction. The training consists of a presentation, tabletop scenarios, exercises and/or drills.

During training residents should be aware that there will be an increased law enforcement presence around Town Hall, and that there is no danger to the public.

“This a great collaborative initiative between the town and the Police Department,” said Town Administrator Strange, “We will continue to work together to uphold best practices by participating in these trainings. We are grateful for their commitment to establishing a crisis management plan for our town.”
