LITTLETON — Town Administrator Anthony M. Ansaldi Jr. and Superintendent Kelly Clenchy announce that the state’s #TrustTheFacts mobile vaccination bus will once again visit the Town, expanding opportunities for parents who wish to obtain COVID-19 vaccinations for their children.
The Town of Littleton and Littleton Public Schools are partnering with VaxinateRx and Health Care Family Pharmacy to offer community clinics for children ages 5-11. Those clinics are scheduled for Monday, Nov. 8, and Monday, Nov. 29, from 4-7 p.m. in the cafeteria at Littleton Middle School, 55 Russell St. All appointments are filled for the Nov. 8 clinic.
The state “Vax Bus” will be parked at Littleton Middle School on both days. Vaccinations will be delivered by appointment from 4-8 p.m., and on a first-come, first-served basis from 8-9 p.m. while vaccine supplies last. Vaccinations will take place at one of six stations inside the bus.
Those seeking an appointment for the mobile vaccination bus are asked to register here. Parents and guardians who wish to have their child vaccinated also must present a signed consent form, found here.
All clinics will dispense first and second doses and boosters of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, which has been approved by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration for those ages 5 and older. The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is a two-dose regimen, with three weeks between first and second doses.
“Appointments for the Nov. 8 clinic filled up very quickly, so we are grateful to the state Department of Public Health and Yankee Bus Lines for coming to Littleton for a third time to increase access to vaccinations,” Administrator Ansaldi said.
“There has been incredible interest in vaccinations for younger children,” Superintendent Clenchy said. “With VaxinateRx, Health Care Family Pharmacy, and the state vaccination bus, we will be able to reach a significant number of students within the Littleton school community.”
Vaccines are free. Identification is not required. Insurance is not required, though attendees are asked to bring their insurance cards to defray administrative costs.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends booster shots for anyone who has received both doses in the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna regimen, or the single-dose Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine. Fully vaccinated individuals may receive a booster shot of any vaccine. Regulators have not recommended any one vaccine over another as a booster.
Booster shots will be available based on the following guidelines:
A single booster dose of COVID-19 Vaccine may be administered at least six months after completion of the primary series of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine to individuals:
- 65 years of age and older
- 18 through 64 years of age at high risk of severe COVID-19
- 18 through 64 years of age with frequent institutional or occupational exposure to SARS-CoV-2
A single booster dose of COVID-19 Vaccine may be administered at least two months after completion of the single-dose primary Janssen vaccine regimen to individuals 18 years of age and older.
Individuals can check if they are eligible for a booster by using the eligibility tool at mass.gov/BoosterCheck.
Those attending the Littleton clinics are asked to stay for 15 minutes after being vaccinated (30 minutes for anyone who has had a prior anaphylactic reaction to any medication).
Attendees at all clinics will be required to wear masks and maintain physical distance, in accordance with current Massachusetts guidelines regarding clinics.
