Collaborative Holds First Clinics in Hamilton, Topsfield

SOUTH HAMILTON — The Greater Cape Ann Community Collaborative (GCACC) is actively seeking community organizations to collaborate with in the coming weeks to hold COVID-19 vaccination clinics.
The GCACC is authorized by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health to administer vaccines in public spaces, and in targeted spaces such as businesses, schools and houses of worship.
Local organizations looking to partner with the GCACC can contact Hamilton Public Health Nurse Rachel Lee at 978-290-9618. The GCACC will publicize dates and times of open clinics when they are finalized.
The Commonwealth has agreed to provide the GCACC with doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. GCACC clinics are open to all Massachusetts residents ages 12 and older.
“The GCACC has been able to coordinate these clinics thanks to a coordinated regional effort to make getting vaccinated as convenient, accessible and stress-free as possible. We’re excited to have started off on a strong foot and look forward to the clinics in the coming weeks as well,” Ipswich Town Manager Anthony Marino said.
The GCACC held its first COVID-19 vaccination clinic on Wednesday, May 26 from 2-4 p.m. at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School in South Hamilton. Approximately 60 people received their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine at the clinic.
“With children and teens age 12 to 17 only recently becoming eligible for the Pfizer vaccine, we’re thrilled we were able to offer a clinic at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School, offering a familiar place for young people to get their vaccinated as well as a local, convenient option for the broader community,” Hamilton Public Health Nurse Rachel Lee said.
The GCACC also held a second clinic on Thursday in the Coolidge Building at the Topsfield Fairgrounds, vaccinating approximately 20 people.
Clinics will be continue to be held on a regular basis at several Cape Ann locations:
- Clinics will continue to be held at Coolidge Hall in Topsfield on Thursdays following this week’s clinic, from 2-3:30 p.m. each week.
- Drive-thru clinics will be held on Saturdays beginning this June at Rockport Elementary School at 34 Jerdens Lane, Rockport. The start date and times will be announced when available.
- Clinics will be held weekly on Mondays beginning June 7 from 1-4 p.m. at Our Lady of Hope Parish at 1 Pineswamp Road, Ipswich.
- The GCACC is also authorized by the MDPH to administer vaccines in other public spaces, and in targeted spaces such as businesses, schools, and houses of worship. The GCACC is a collaborative of ten communities: Boxford, Essex, Gloucester, Hamilton, Ipswich, Manchester-by-the-Sea, Middleton, Rockport, Topsfield and Wenham.
