ESSEX — Police Chief Paul Francis is pleased to announce that the Essex Police and Fire Departments will begin operating out of a brand new station on Friday morning.
Effective tomorrow at 8 a.m., Essex Police and Fire will have officially moved from their old location on 24 Martin Street to their new home at 11 John Wise Ave.
After a year and a half of construction, the building project for the new station reached completion earlier this month.
The new station lobby will be open for business, but residents are encouraged to call or email the station with inquiries whenever possible. Residents that do choose to visit the station should be mindful of COVID-19 precautions, including wearing a mask or face-covering and practicing social distancing.
“Over the last week and a half, we have been slowly moving all of our equipment over from the old building to the new. After a lot of heaving lifting, we are so excited to start officially operating out of our new facility,” said Chief Francis. “We will no longer be answering walk-ins at our old station, so anyone that needs in-person assistance from a police officer should visit us at 11 John Wise Ave.”
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the grand opening ceremony for the new building has yet to be scheduled but will be announced at a later date.
