MERRIMAC — Board of Light Commissioners Chair Paula Hamel announces that the Merrimac Municipal Light Department is seeking candidates to serve as the full-time general manager, and has tapped a former longtime utility leader to serve as the interim GM.
Dick Joyce, who led the Wellesley Municipal Light Plant for 24 years, has been named the interim General Manager and is overseeing the Merrimac Municipal Light Department’s day-to-day operations while supporting its search for a full-time candidate.
“Having spent the last six weeks in Merrimac, I can say without reservation that the Merrimac General Manager position is a wonderful career opportunity for anyone fortunate enough to be selected,” Joyce said.

The chosen candidate will be someone who demonstrates an ability to foster strong relationships with department staff and customers, as well as work effectively with town government colleagues. Electric utility industry experience is preferred but not required.
