ALFRED, Maine — The York County Chiefs Association is pleased to announce it will take an active role, in collaboration with numerous partner agencies, in distributing the COVID-19 vaccine, beginning with emergency medical service (EMS) providers.
In partnership with the State of Maine, Maine Emergency Medical Services, the fire and rescue departments of York County and York County EMA, the York County Chiefs Association is working to ensure that EMS providers can soon receive the COVID-19 vaccine, which will protect those frontline first responders from illness caused by the coronavirus.
The collaborating agencies will coordinate to distribute the Moderna vaccine to licensed EMS providers in York County.
Members of the public are asked not to call their local fire department to inquire about vaccine availability. The vaccine is not yet available to members of the general public. EMS providers and other frontline healthcare workers have been identified by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a high priority group.
More information about vaccinations for the general public will be made available at a later date. For more vaccine-related updates, visit the Maine CDC’s website.
