Berkley Fire Rescue To Put New Ambulance Into Service

BERKLEY — Chief Scott Fournier is pleased to announce that Berkley Fire Rescue’s new ambulance will be put into service on Friday.

Berkley Fire Rescue received delivery of the new ambulance on Wednesday, Aug. 12. The new ambulance is a 2020 Dodge Braun ambulance purchased from Woodville-based Bulldog Fire.

The new ambulance features an integrated patient load system, updated reflectors and a light package to meet today’s ambulance standards. The total cost of the ambulance was $300,000 and was purchased with ambulance user funds, meaning no tax dollars were used for the purchase.

The purchase was approved at Berkley’s Annual Town Meeting on July 27.

“Berkley Fire Rescue has a history of buying off of the lot or demonstrator model ambulances. These have worked well for our needs, but this brand new ambulance was designed by us specifically for this department and is expected to last for 10 years, which is very exciting,” Chief Fournier said. “We are extremely pleased to have this new ambulance among our apparatus which will allow us to serve our community in a greater capacity. I’d like to thank the residents of Berkley, all of the departments in the Town Hall and especially the Board of Selectmen and Town Administrator Heather Martin-Sterling who all helped to make this possible.”

The department has spent the past week readying the truck with its required equipment and properly training personnel before it goes into service tomorrow.
