Hanson PTO to Host Second Polar Plunge to Raise Money for Indian Head School

HANSON — Whitman-Hanson Regional School District Superintendent Jeffrey Szymaniak is pleased to announce that the Hanson PTO will once again be hosting a Polar Plunge at Cranberry Cove to raise money to support students at the Indian Head Elementary School.

Following the success of last year’s event, which featured dozens of participants, the Hanson PTO will host its second Polar Plunge at Cranberry Cove, Camp Kiwanee Road, on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020, starting at 10 a.m.

In the event of heavy snow or rain, the event will instead be held Sunday, Feb. 2.

“This event is a fun way to bring people together to raise money for Indian Head School,” Superintendent Szymaniak said. “We had a great turnout last year, and hopefully the weather isn’t too cold this year so even more people will be able to brave the waters and take the plunge.”

During the event, participants will be jumping/running into the cold waters of Cranberry Cove to help raise funds to support the students at Indian Head Elementary School. Proceeds will go towards supporting technology needs at the school; paying for enrichment activities that build upon the K-4 curriculum, including field trips and in-house experiences such as the Museum of Science Traveling Classrooms; and other requests made by teachers and staff that help support and expand upon the learning environment.

All participants are asked to donate or raise a minimum of $35.

A personal fundraising website will be set up for each registered jumper so donors can donate directly to their preferred participant via PayPal, credit or debit cards. Cash and checks made out to the Hanson PTO are also accepted and can be mailed to:

The first 75 registered participants will receive a commemorative winter hat from the event.

Registration for the event ends at noon on Jan. 25, 2020. All participants must be 18 years old or older on the day of the event. Each participant will be asked to sign a liability waiver before entering water.
