WHAT:

According to Massachusetts Partnerships for Youth, schools in Massachusetts and across the country have been plagued by instances of safety issues, which disrupt education and create fear and anxiety among students, staff and parents. This conference will offer education and law enforcement professionals an overview of response options, focusing on bomb threats and how effective Threat Assessment Teams can support a safe and secure school environment.

Opening remarks will be made by State Sen. James Eldridge and State Rep. Kate Hogan. State Rep. Harold Naughton will also be in attendance.

Also at the summit, MPY will present its inaugural Partnership Award. The award recognizes outstanding inter-organizational partnerships within communities that benefit the health and safety of youth.

The award will be presented by the MPY Board of Directors to Nashoba Regional School District Superintendent Brooke Clenchy, along with the police and fire chiefs in Bolton, Lancaster and Stow, which are the communities where Nashoba’s students reside.

“The police and fire chiefs collectively support our district and work collaboratively with each other, in partnership with the district, to ensure we are safe and have best practices in place,” Superintendent Clenchy said. “They do not hesitate to collaborate, respond, and seek assistance from each other or surrounding towns when needed to guide the district. We, at the Nashoba Regional School District, are fiercely proud of our departments and deeply grateful.”

The chiefs being honored are:

  • Stow Fire Chief Joseph Landry
  • Stow Police Chief Ralph Marino
  • Bolton Fire Chief Jeffery Legendre
  • Bolton Police Chief Warren Nelson
