Rochester Arts and Culture Commission Launches Website, Seeks New Members

ROCHESTER –City Manager Blaine Cox and the Rochester Commission for Arts and Culture are pleased to announce an upcoming informational event for residents with a passion for arts and culture, as well as the launch of a new website for the commission.

The Rochester Commission for Arts and Culture will host an Arts and Culture Recruit and Reboot Organizational meeting this September.

WHAT:

The Arts and Culture Recruit and Reboot Organizational Meeting is an opportunity for residents to learn more about becoming a member of the Rochester Commission for Arts and Culture.

There are several spaces open on the commission, and all Rochester residents are encouraged to apply by filling out a statement of interest at the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall.

“This is a really great opportunity for residents who love arts and culture to learn more about the commission and our work to support the creative community in Rochester,” said Rochester Museum of Fine Arts Co-Founder Matt Wyatt, who also serves on the commission. “You don’t have to be an artist or a musician, you simply need to feel passionately about the importance of arts and culture in our city.”

The Rochester Commission for Arts and Culture has also launched a new website, www.rochesterarts.info, which will serve as the hub for the latest information on upcoming arts and culture events. The website also profiles local nonprofits, and includes a gallery dedicated to arts and culture in Rochester. Additionally, the website includes information for visitors and lists local restaurants, hotels, entertainment, recreation and shopping destinations, as well as public resources.

The website also links to the Rochester News and Events Portal, which features information about recent arts and culture initiatives, events, groups and individuals as well as important news and events citywide.

“This is an exciting time for arts and culture in Rochester, and I commend the commission on their work to celebrate and promote the arts and culture community in the city,” City Manager Cox said. “I encourage everyone to visit the new website, and for those interested in arts and culture to attend the meeting this fall.”
