Rochester Fire Department Invites Community to Third Annual Fire Safety Festival and Parade

ROCHESTER — Chief Mark Klose is pleased to announce that the Rochester Fire Department will host its third annual Fire Safety Festival and Parade.

WHEN: 

Sunday, Oct. 6 from 8:30 a.m. (parade start), followed by the Fire Safety Festival from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rochester Common.

WHERE: 

• Spaulding High School (parade start)
• Rochester Common (parade end/festival)

WHAT: 

The Rochester Fire Department will renew and build upon its traditional fall Fire Safety Festival this October, adding a parade that will feature local businesses and organizations, the N.H. Be Seat Smart Truck, the New Hampshire Fire Marshal’s Office K-9 vehicle, a variety of public safety vehicles. The parade will culminate in the festival itself at Rochester Common.

Families are invited to enjoy a fun-filled day with firefighters that will include safety demonstrations, vendors and the Crescent City Kitchen food truck, as well as plenty of souvenirs and giveaways for kids of all ages. Children will also have an opportunity to take part in the Junior Firefighter Certification Course and take home a certificate signed by Chief Klose designating them as junior firefighters.

The event will serve as a kickoff to National Fire Prevention Week, which takes place from Oct. 6-12.

“Fire safety education benefits residents of all ages, so I encourage adults and families alike to come and join us,” Chief Klose said. “This is a fun tradition that helps our firefighters become more engaged with the community, while helping residents be better informed about critical aspects of fire safety.”

Residents should note that Grant Street will be closed from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. to accommodate the festival.
