Town of Maynard Invites Community to Public Meeting on Proposed Minimum Property Maintenance By-Law
MAYNARD — Town Administrator Greg Johnson announces that the Town of Maynard will host a public meeting to inform residents about the proposed Minimum Property Maintenance by-law that will be considered at Special Town Meeting this fall.
Residents are invited to attend the public meeting on Thursday, Sept. 5, at 6:30 p.m in Town Hall to learn more, as well as offer feedback. The by-law will be up for consideration at the Special Town Meeting on Oct. 28.
The Sept. 5 meeting will give members of the community an opportunity to learn about the proposed by-law and how it will operate if approved by Town Meeting. The proposal is part of a multi-year effort by the Economic Development Committee to improve Maynard’s downtown aesthetics. The initiative began in 2015 with the launch of the Business Environment Enhancement Program (BEEP) grant.
“The town has offered matching grants for a multitude of exterior improvements for our local business community,” Town Planner Bill Nemser said. “The initiative was designed to help our businesses with improvements that would boost curb appeal, and this by-law is a continuation of the effort to make Maynard as appealing a place to live and work as possible.”
The proposed by-law was initiated in large part by feedback and input from residents and business owners.
“The EDC has taken the gathering of input from a wide range of sources very seriously, and the resulting draft by-law reflects this,” EDC Chair Jack MacKeen said. “There has been a lot of effort and research invested into developing a by-law that works for Maynard, and we want to ensure that Maynard looks and feels like a place where people want to invest.”
Next week’s public meeting is open to all who would like to attend, and members of the community are encouraged to do so.
For additional information, contact Nemser at 978-897-1302.
