Statement of Town of Carlisle Regarding Investigation into Former Employee

CARLISLE — Chair of the Board of Selectmen Kate Reid and Police Chief John Fisher wish to provide an update to the community regarding an investigation into allegations leveled against a former town employee.

The Town of Carlisle and Carlisle Police Department have been made aware of an investigation by the Littleton Police Department and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office into alleged misappropriation of Littleton town funds by a former town official. That individual, who is now deceased, was also recently employed by the Town of Carlisle.

The Town of Carlisle immediately opened its own investigation and hired the town’s auditing firm to find out if Carlisle is missing any money. Although our preliminary investigation has not uncovered any inappropriate actions or missing taxpayer money, the Town’s auditors will complete a full audit to verify this.

The Carlisle Police Department has been in contact with the Littleton Police Department regarding this matter.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available, including the results of the auditors’ work.
