Little Free Library Opens in Downtown Rochester

ROCHESTER — City residents now have a new destination for borrowing books, following the installation of a little free library downtown. 

The new little free library was created through a partnership by Rochester Rotary, Woven Community Development, SOSRCO, the Community Tool Box and the Rochester Housing Authority.

Following its official dedication yesterday, the little library, built by Woven and stocked by Library Director Brian Sylvester in his capacity as a Rotary member, is now officially open.

The little library allows residents to simply take a book or leave one behind, and anyone is welcome to put books into it.

“This is a great community project that goes beyond the scope of the public library and gives residents another reading resource right in the heart of downtown, bringing people together around literature,” said Leah Roth of Woven. “I’m so grateful for everyone who worked together to make this uniquely functional piece of art a reality.”

The little library is located directly across the street from 45 North Main St. downtown.
