Maynard to Celebrate Reopening of Zagster Bike Share Station at Mill & Main with Zagfest
MAYNARD – Get your bike helmet and sneakers on! Town Administrator Greg Johnson is pleased to invite residents and community members to celebrate the grand reopening of Mill & Main’s Zagster bike share station next month.
Zagfest will be held at the Mill & Main Zagster station on Friday, May 17 from 2-3:30 p.m.
Economic Development Committee Chair Jack MacKeen said that Zagfest is a “thank you” to Mill & Main from the Town for sponsoring Maynard’s first Zagster Station.
“We are grateful to Mill & Main for sponsoring this Zagster location. The Committee thinks it is great for Maynard’s business environment and the community, particularly with the Assabet River Rail Trail now open,” MacKeen said.
The celebration will feature guests discussing bicycling in Maynard and the impact bike sharing will have at the Assabet River Rail Trail.
State Senator Jamie Eldridge and State Representative Kate Hogan will be among the many local dignitaries speaking at the event. Local author David Mark will discuss his exciting new Trail of Flowers project on the rail trail and new Assistant Town Administrator Megan Zammuto will be on hand to talk about moving forward with Maynard’s economic development.
“The trail is certainly an amenity that has a broad appeal and greatly contributes to the quality of life in Maynard and the Zagster station will serve to enhance the use of the trail by people of all ages,” Town Administrator Johnson said.
In addition to the speakers, pizza will be served and there will be giveaways.
The Town will be offering a limited number of free ride passes as part of the kickoff event.
“Free single-ride passes are available at the Office of Municipal Services in Town Hall while supplies last,” Town Planner Bill Nemser said. “We also have opportunities for businesses, individuals or other entities to sponsor additional Zagster bike share stations in Maynard. This will be a fantastic kickoff event and we want to make sure Mill & Main recognizes that their contribution to the community is appreciated.”
