Housing Our Communities Presentation to Be Held at Rochester Performance Center

ROCHESTER — City Manager Blaine Cox is pleased to invite residents to attend a free presentation on urban development by Strong Towns President Chuck Marohn this April.

WHAT:

The City of Rochester, New Hampshire Planners Association, Northern New England Chapter of the American Planning Association and New Hampshire Housing are inviting residents to attend a free presentation by Strong Towns President and Founder Chuck Marohn this April titled “Housing Our Communities.”

Strong Towns is a nonprofit organization that works to educate communities in Northern America to make financially sound decisions pertaining to building and infrastructure projects, and to closely examine the needs of their community when making major planning decisions.

Marohn, a professional engineer and member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, has a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Minnesota’s Institute of Technology and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning degree from the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey Institute.

During his presentation, Marohn will discuss economic resilience, citizen involvement, and wise land use with housing availability and affordability.

“We believe this presentation will be enlightening as Rochester evaluates future infrastructure, planning, and building endeavors and the housing needs of our community,” City Manager Cox said. “I encourage residents to attend this presentation, and learn about the perspective Smart Town is working to share with communities like ours.”
