GLOUCESTER — Interim Chief John McCarthy issues the following statement:

“I have been made aware that the Essex County District Attorney’s Office has forwarded pertinent materials to the state Attorney General’s Office and U.S. Attorney’s Office as it relates to the investigation of internal affairs within the department.

“The Gloucester Police Department will fully cooperate with all ongoing investigations.

“We are grateful for the continued support and patience of the Gloucester community.”
