CHELMSFORD – Chief James M. Spinney is pleased to announce that two new officers have joined the Chelmsford Police Department.

Officer Christopher Mauti and Officer Brian Gervais were sworn in today by Town Clerk Onorina Z. Maloney at the Chelmsford Police Station.

Both officers graduated from the Northern Essex Community College/Methuen Police Academy last Friday, Oct. 14, and have entered field training, which will last between 10 and 12 weeks.

Officer Mauti and Officer Gervais both received academic honors from the Academy.

Both officers are Chelmsford natives and graduated from Chelmsford High School: Gervais in 2005, Mauti in 2010. Officer Mauti also holds a degree in Criminal Justice from Suffolk University.

“I am pleased to welcome Officer Gervais and Officer Mauti to the force,” Chief Spinney said. “Both men have a special connection to Chelmsford: this is, and has been, their home. It’s always a pleasure to work with men and women who are dedicating their lives not only to service, but also service in their hometown.”
