Wakefield Police Wish Residents a Happy and Safe Fourth of July

WAKEFIELD — Chief Rick Smith and the Wakefield Police Department would like to wish the community a happy and safe Fourth of July this weekend.

Residents are invited to attend the Fourth of July parade, which begins at 5 p.m. on Monday, July 4. It will start on North Avenue and end at Galvin Middle School. Various surrounding streets will be closed beginning at 4:15 p.m., including North Avenue, Church Street, Common Street and Main Street. Quannapowitt Parkway will also be closed to non-essential traffic on July 4.

Later that night, Wakefield will put on a fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. at Lake Quannapowitt. The display will be visible from just about anywhere around the lake.

Residents are reminded that alcohol is not permitted at the parade or during fireworks and is subject to seizure.

“We hope everyone enjoys the long holiday weekend with friends and family,” Chief Smith said. “For those who are attending the parade and fireworks, we ask that if anyone sees something that looks out of the ordinary, to please say something to an officer, or contact the Wakefield Police Department immediately. We remind residents that alcohol is at no time allowed during these events.”
