Maynard Fire Department Recognizes Firefighters During Ceremony
MAYNARD — Chief Anthony Stowers is pleased to announce that several members of the Maynard Fire Department were recognized for their achievements at a ceremony last week.
On Tuesday, April 19, during a Board of Selectmen’s meeting, town officials swore in Call Firefighters Christopher Leblanc and Ioanis Pintzopoulos, along with Career Firefighter Andrew Verbitzki, all of whom began at the department in January.
Firefighter Verbitzki previously completed the Department of Defense Fire Academy and FDNY Training Academy. Firefighters Leblanc and Pintzopoulos will attend an upcoming call fire academy.
Officials also recognized Captain Timothy Gray and Career Firefighters Mike Cisek, Derek Maskalenko, James McGowan and Matthew James for completing their one-year probationary period in their positions. As part of the accomplishment, all four members received their department badges, which were pinned by family members in the audience.
State Sen. Jamie Eldridge and State Rep. Kate Hogan also presented proclamations to Captain Gray for his appointment to the new role and to the three new hires.
“We would like to congratulate these members of the Maynard Fire Department for their accomplishments,” Chief Stowers said. “I know all of them them will continue to serve our town well in their respective roles.”
