Andover Police Officer Sustains Minor Injuries in Accident with Pickup Truck

ANDOVER —  Chief Patrick Keefe reports that an officer from the Andover Police Department sustained minor injuries after he was struck by a pickup truck while working a traffic detail this morning.

At 10:12 a.m., the officer was directing traffic at intersection of Rt. 28 and Rt. 133 because the traffic lights were not functioning. National Grid was on scene at the time to fix the problem.

While on the road, a landscape pickup truck hit the officer and knocked him to the ground. The officer remained conscious and alert. He has minor injuries and was taken to Holy Family Hospital in Methuen by the Andover Fire Department as a precaution.

“This appears to be an accident,” Chief Keefe said. “We are grateful the officer was not seriously injured.”

The incident is under investigation by the Andover Police Department.
