Statement of Littleton Police Chief Matthew King on Successful Prosecution of Credit Card Fraud Case

LITTLETON — Police Chief Matthew J. King is today praising the conviction and federal prison sentence for a Boston woman behind a large credit fraud operation, a case which the Littleton Police Department was heavily involved in investigating:

“Lois Patton stole the good names and identities and ruined the credit profiles of innocent people, all to fulfill her own greed,” Chief King said. “The successful prosecution of her case, culminating this week in a lengthy prison sentence, shows that Federal, State, and Municipal law enforcement agencies can accomplish when we work together in partnership.”

LOIS PATRICIA PATTON, AGE 45, was sentenced on Tuesday to serve 54 months in federal prison for conspiracy to commit wire fraud and aggravated identity theft, according to United States Attorney for the District of New Hampshire John P. Kacavas.

According to Kacavas’ office, in April 2014, Patton conspired with others to purchase gift cards and high value merchandise at retail box stores in New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Georgia using retail credit card accounts and lines of credit that she and her co-conspirators opened in the names of others without their authorization or knowledge.  Patton and others involved in the scheme opened the credit card accounts and lines of credit using misappropriated personal identifying information and false identification cards and used disguises to help facilitate some of the illegal transactions.
