GROVELAND — Police Chief Robert Kirmelewicz and the Groveland Police Department are warning residents to be on their guard after a young teenage girl was reportedly followed and approached by a suspicious male in a vehicle this morning.

The girl told police that she got off her school bus was walking on Washington Street, near Main Street when she noticed a vehicle that appeared to be following her. After a short time, the male operator of the vehicle pulled alongside the girl and said “do you want a ride?” before driving off.

Police talked to a Pentucket school bus driver who reported that she saw a similar looking person yesterday, standing on the side of the road nearby.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 50s or early 60s with dark hair, a black beard and eyeglasses. He was driving an older model white Honda Accord 4-door sedan.

Anyone who sees a person matching this description is urged to call Groveland Police at 978- 521-1212. If you feel that you are in danger, or if this person approaches you, call 911.

Groveland Police also put the word out to police in neighboring communities to be on the lookout.
