Ipswich Police Investigating Sexual Assault at School in Town

IPSWICH — Police Chief Paul A. Nikas reports that the Ipswich Police Department is working with the Essex District Attorney’s Office to investigate an alleged incident of sexual assault that occurred at a local school.

An initial report was made to the Ipswich Police Department, and schools were notified of the alleged incident.

Ipswich Public Schools have cooperated fully with police during the investigation. School leadership followed established state and school district protocols, and district administration notified all the appropriate state agencies.

When the incident was reported, the Ipswich Police Department and Ipswich Public Schools immediately began working together to create and implement a precautionary safety plan to ensure the well-being and safety of all students.

To ensure the integrity of the investigation and to protect the confidentiality of the families involved, the Ipswich Police Department is unable to comment further at this time. Further inquiries should be directed to the District Attorney’s Office.
