BOXBOROUGH — Police Chief Warren B. Ryder is pleased to announce that the Boxborough Police Department was recently honored by AAA for its commitment to pedestrian safety in town.

Boxborough has not had a fatal pedestrian accident in 15 years, and for the police department’s efforts to keep people safe on the roads, it was honored with two awards from AAA: the AAA Silver Award, and the AAA Pedestrian Safety Commendation, at the 2014 AAA Awards Luncheon in Worcester last month.

The Silver Award was given for Boxborough’s overall outstanding achievements in traffic safety and continuing efforts to educate and protect the citizens of the community. The Pedestrian Safety Commendation recognized Boxborough’s 15 years without a fatality.

“From crossing guards to traffic stops, the Boxborough Police Department is deeply committed to keeping people safe on the roads and crossing the street,” Chief Ryder said. “We are very grateful to AAA for recognizing our efforts, and I am very proud of each member of the department for their efforts at traffic and pedestrian safety in town.”
