**UPDATE**
Stoneham Police Charge Man in Connection with Late December Hit-and-Run

Wakefield Police Officer and Anonymous Citizen Provided Tips Leading to Identification of Suspect

STONEHAM — Police Chief James McIntyre reports that a man has been identified as the suspect in last month’s hit-and-run of a pedestrian thanks to an alert Wakefield Detective and a citizen who saw media reports of the incident and came forward.

JONATHAN SHEDD, AGE 22, OF WAKEFIELD was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident after he was identified and interviewed by Stoneham Police Detectives.

SHEDD was identified when a Wakefield Detective noticed a vehicle matching the description provided by Stoneham Police, based on the evidence left at the scene. A citizen also called police anonymously.

SHEDD will be summonsed to court at a later date. Full details of the incident are in the original Dec. 29 press release here.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
