WINCHESTER — The Winchester Police Department is investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident.
The Winchester Police and Fire Departments responded to Manomet Road near High Street at approximately 7 a.m. Saturday, for a reported single car motor vehicle crash.
The driver of the motor vehicle, a 17-year-old male, was transported by Winchester Fire to Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington where he was pronounced dead.
A preliminary investigation indicates that the motor vehicle was traveling eastbound on Manomet Road when it exited the roadway and crashed.
The name of the victim is not able to be released because of his age.
“Winchester Police responded to a single car accident this morning that resulted in the tragic death of a 17-year-old boy,” Police Chief Kenneth C. Albertelli said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family on this difficult day. Right now, we are working with our partners in State law enforcement to determine what exactly happened. It would be premature to comment further at this time.”
The Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Division responded to Winchester to assist in the investigation.
