Groton Police Arrest Man on Gun and Drug Charges after Serving Search Warrant This Morning

GROTON — Police Chief Donald Palma Jr. announces that the Groton Police Department today arrested a alleged major drug dealer after serving search warrant on his home in West Groton.

SHANE CONLEY, AGE 28, OF GROTON was arrested and charged with numerous offenses including:

  • Unlawful possession of a firearm
  • Unlawful possession of ammunition
  • Improper storage of firearms and ammunition
  • Three counts of Possession of Class A Substances with Intent to Distribute
  • Possession of Class D Substances with Intent to Distribute
  • Possession of Class D Substances with Intent to Manufacture
  • Two Counts of Possession of Class E Substances with Intent to Distribute

An investigation into drug dealing in Groton led police to CONLEY. After intelligence gathered by Groton Police Detectives indicated that the suspect likely had firearms in his home, the North East Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council SWAT Team was called in work under the command of Groton Police to assist in serving the warrant.

“Today, Groton Police Detectives concluded a major investigation which took guns, drugs, and a drug dealer out of our community,” Chief Palma said. “I am grateful for the high level of cooperation shown among municipal police departments in our area, including the NEMLEC SWAT Team, which helped bring this dangerous suspect to justice with no harm done to innocent people in our town.”

Police found a sawed off .22 caliber rifle, assorted ammunition, a number of small bags of marijuana packaged for individual sale, a quantity of hashish, a quantity of Fentanyl, and bags of various pills.

The warrant was served early Thursday morning at CONLEY’S home on Pepperell Road. No one was hurt.

CONLEY will be arraigned later today in Ayer District Court.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
