North Reading Police Arrest Man for Allegedly Dealing Heroin out of Auto Repair Shop

NORTH READING — Police Chief Michael P. Murphy announces that a North Reading Police Department investigation has resulted in the arrest of a suspected heroin dealer, allegedly dealing drugs out of a local auto repair shop.

“Swift and aggressive police work has today taken a heroin dealer out of our community,” Chief Murphy said. “I want to praise the teamwork shown between the North Reading Police Department, the State Police, and our other law enforcement partners that resulted in good information, a solid surveillance program, and the speedy arrest of a dangerous drug dealer.”

On Tuesday, the State Police Violent Fugitive Team tipped off North Reading Police that a 24-year-old Lynn man might be selling heroin out of an auto repair shop on Main Street in North Reading, a convenience store in Peabody, and in his home city of Lynn.

At 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, North Reading detectives began surveillance of TYLER KING, AGE 24, OF LYNN, at the auto repair shop.

At about 1:30 p.m., a woman, identified as ELIZABETH DASILVA AGE 34 OF FRAMINGHAM arrived at the auto shop and parked a Ford Explorer in the parking lot. KING came out of the shop with an engine diagnostic tool in his hands and immediately plugged the tool into the woman’s car. Police observed that this was not normal mechanic-customer activity, and the continued to observe. KING was seen removing something from the driver’s side compartment and putting it into his pocket. The women then drove away.

KING then drove to a local convenience store, where he met with another male.

After additional surveillance, police separately stopped both KING’S car and DASILVA’S Ford Explorer. Police found two bags of heroin in DASILVA’S vehicle and a larger quantity of heroin in KING’S vehicle.

KING was arrested and charged with Possession of a Class A Substance (Heroin) and Distribution of a Class A Substance (Heroin). He will be back in court on July 28 for a pre-trial hearing.

DASILVA will be summonsed to court at a later date for Possession of a Class A Substance (Heroin).
