Safety is Served at Annual Bedford Bike Safety Day

“Most Successful Ever” Safety Day Sees 120 Helmets Fitted and Distributed

BEDFORD — Police Chief Robert Bongiorno is pleased to announce that the annual Bedford Bike Safety Day was a tremendous success when it was held last weekend.

Riding, gliding, and staying safe! Bedford bicyclists are safer than ever after the Police Department teamed up with the Bedford Rotary Club to fit and hand out 120 helmets at the annual event, held near the playground behind the Bedford Police Station from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 7.

“This was our most successful Bike Safety Day in the more than 20-year history of the event!” said Bedford Police Lieutenant James F. Graham. “We are happy to be able to prevent future bicycling accidents and allow the citizens of Bedford to have fun on their bikes this summer.”

The Bedford Police Department and Bedford Rotary Club gave out and adjusted the 120 helmets for adults and children of all ages for proper fit. The fit is extremely important, as it ensures that the helmet is actually doing its job!

The Bikeway Source was also on hand to adjust many bicycles for safety, and Bedford Farms gave out free ice cream coupons to all in attendance
