Hampton Academy Students Participate in Beach Clean-Up Community Day

HAMPTON — Superintendent Lois Costa and Principal Neal Campbell are pleased to share that students and staff from Hampton Academy took part in a beach clean-up at Hampton Beach on Friday, April 17.

The initiative, organized in partnership with the Surfrider Foundation, allowed students to participate in a hands-on effort to remove litter from Hampton Beach. In addition to collecting trash, students worked alongside Surfrider volunteers to weigh collected trash and analyze the data.

333 students and staff, and six Surfrider Foundation volunteers participated in the clean-up of plastic bottles, straws, shopping bags and more. As a result of their efforts, over 100 pounds of trash were removed from Hampton Beach.

The data gathered will be incorporated into classroom lessons in science, environmental studies and data analysis, reinforcing the connection between hands-on service and academic learning.

This initiative reflects a broader commitment to experiential learning and community involvement in Hampton School District. By engaging students in real-world problem-solving, the event helps foster a sense of responsibility, teamwork and environmental awareness.

The April clean-up was hosted following the success of a similar clean-up held in October 2025. The partnership between Hampton School District and the Surfrider Foundation continues to grow, providing students with meaningful opportunities to contribute to their community.

“This clean-up is something we deeply value at Hampton School District,” said Principal Campbell. “By getting students out of the classroom and into the community, they not only contribute in an impactful way, but also develop a stronger sense of responsibility for the place they call home.”
