*MEDIA ADVISORY* Hampton Academy to Host Community Day Beach Clean-up

HAMPTON — Hampton Academy, in partnership with the Surfrider Foundation, will host its second Community Day, bringing students, staff and community members together for a beach clean-up focused on environmental stewardship and community engagement.

The event builds upon a successful clean-up held in fall 2025, which drew strong participation and positive feedback.

WHEN:

Friday, April 17, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

WHERE:

Main Beach, Ocean Boulevard, Hampton

WHO:

  • Students and staff from Hampton Academy
  • Community members
  • The Surfrider Foundation

WHAT: 

Students, staff and community members will be participating in a beach cleanup in partnership with the Surfrider Foundation. which focuses on protecting waterways and coastal resources. 

According to the Surfrider Foundation, Hampton’s efforts represent one of the first times an entire school has participated in a large-scale event.

Students will collect litter, then, students will weigh, track and analyze what is gathered. The data will be brought back into the classroom, extending the event into their academic understanding of environmental science and civic responsibility.

Media are asked to email kendel@jgpr.net by 4 p.m. Thursday if they plan to attend. Visuals will include students participating in the cleanup and sorting debris. Interviews with school staff will be available.
