WAREHAM — Superintendent Matt D’Andrea and Elementary School Principal Bethany Chandler are pleased to announce that Wareham Elementary School band and chorus students participated in the winter concert this month.
On Thursday, Feb. 8, at 6 p.m., 55 fourth grade band and chorus students performed at the Wareham Elementary School among classmates, family members and staff.
During the concert, band members performed “Band on Parade,” “Cardiff by the Sea,” “Au Claire De La Lune,” “Down by the Station” and “Jingle Bells and Hot Cross Buns.”
Chorus members sang “North Pole Rock & Roll,” “Winter in America,” “Ways of the Seasons,” “The Winter Hand Jive Medley” and “Snow Day.”
Fourth grade band and chorus students participated in many rehearsals to prepare for their winter concert. Chorus members began practicing at the end of September, meeting once a week on Tuesday mornings before school. Band lessons took place during the school day, four days a week. In preparation for the concert, additional rehearsals were added at the beginning of January, and for many this was their first opportunity to perform on stage.
“Watching our young musicians perform at the concert filled me with immense pride,” Music Teacher Russ Hart said. “Their dedication and hard work truly shined on stage, showcasing not only their musical talent, but also their growth as individuals.”
