MATTAPOISETT — Superintendent Michael S. Nelson and Principal Michael Devoll are pleased to share that the Old Rochester Regional National Honor Society hosted a trivia night for students and staff last week.
ORR students and staff were invited to attend on Thursday, Dec. 7 in the ORR cafeteria. The event was free to attend and approximately 75 students participated.
Teams of 4-6 members competed in multiple rounds of trivia, working together to answer questions within a time limit. The questions covered various academic and social topics, including sports, fine arts, local history, popular culture and more.
Student teams received five bonus points for having at least one member from each of the four graduating classes at ORRHS. Faculty teams received five bonus points for having members from four different departments. Teams also had to have a team name and received five bonus points if the team attended in a team uniform or costume and with a sign that displayed the team name.
Teams competed to win a catered VIP lunch and an ORR Winter Sports Pass for home athletic events. The winning team included seniors Sofia Bouley, Chloe Bean and Catterina Nunes, junior Scarlett Sylvia, sophomore Emerson Roy and freshman Tenley Lane. The team won through a combination of trivia and bonus points by forming a team with a member of each graduating class and attending in matching team costumes, which included an oversized top hat.
The trivia night was hosted by ORR NHS Advisors Bertrand Allain and Kathleen Brunelle, both faculty members in the English department.
“Congratulations to Mr. Allain, Ms. Brunelle and the ORR National Honor Society on a successful event,” Superintendent Nelson said. “It was great to see the spirited participation, knowledge-sharing and teamwork of everyone who attended.”
