FOXBORO, Mass. — Volunteers from The Salvation Army Massachusetts Division’s Emergency Disaster Services will be on a hand at Gillette Stadium on Saturday to support and feed first responders and security personnel at the 124th Army-Navy Game.
The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services will have 15 trained volunteers on site at Gillette Stadium throughout the day operating two canteens for state police, first responders and military security personnel.
Working in the background of “America’s Game,” Salvation Army volunteers will provide “grab ‘n go” items for breakfast, like coffee, bagels, muffins, snacks and other beverages. They will then provide a lunch of hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken patties and hot and cold sandwiches throughout the game to the security personnel.
The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Services Canteens are mobile feeding units that allow them to provide upwards of thousands of meals at emergencies and community events.
As leaders in feeding first responders, volunteers from the non-profit organization expect to feed about 350 first responders throughout the day as they support Massachusetts State Police, the State Police Association of Massachusetts, Gillette Stadium Security and public safety personnel from fire departments, the military, and EMS.
“I am beyond grateful to The Salvation Army and its dedicated volunteers who have exceeded all expectations in supporting our first responders for this year’s Army-Navy game,” said Patrick McNamara, president of the State Police Association of Massachusetts. “With over 50,000 fans anticipated at Gillette Stadium, our Troopers and public safety partners will be working hard to ensure a secure and enjoyable event. The invaluable behind-the-scenes assistance from organizations like The Salvation Army is instrumental in our ability to serve and protect all of those in attendance.”
“The Salvation Army Massachusetts Division is proud and excited to support our first responders and military members who will be providing security at the Army-Navy game,” said Emily Mew, Director of Emergency Disaster Services for The Salvation Army Massachusetts.
The Salvation Army has a longstanding history of serving America’s veterans.
