Newport Police Department Charges Man with Burglary

NEWPORT — Chief Travis Bingham reports that the Newport Police Department arrested and charged a Newport man with burglary. 

JARRAME ROLLERSON, AGE 25, OF NEWPORT, was arrested and charged with:

  • Burglary

On Tuesday, Dec. 5, at approximately 5:15 p.m., Newport Police were dispatched to 74 Bayview St., Unit 4, for a report of a burglary in progress. 

Officers arrived to learn that an individual identified as ROLLERSON entered the apartment without permission and sucker punched a resident. ROLLERSON punched a resident several more times as the resident tried to restrain him, causing damage throughout the apartment. 

Police found a resident still restraining ROLLERSON when they arrived, and ROLLERSON was immediately taken into custody. The residents of the apartment suffered injuries but declined transport to a hospital. 

ROLLERSON has been charged with unlawful trespassing four times prior to this incident. 

ROLLERSON was held on $5,000 bail and will be arraigned Wednesday in Orleans Criminal Court.
