HAMPTON — Superintendent Meredith Nadeau and Principal William McGowan wish to highlight the Winnacunnet Regional High School Poetry Club and its recent “Sparks Fly” reading event.

About 20 students and faculty members participated in the Nov. 16 event hosted by “Spark,” the WHS literary magazine.

Readers shared both well-known poems and original works to an audience of students, parents, grandparents, and staff members.

Poetry Club members and advisors are looking forward to organizing another similar event in the near future.

Poetry readers included students Ben Box, Ellie Box, Hollow Connor, Alison Cross, Camden David, Kierra Martin-Biggs, Maddie Mathews, Dylan Maynard, Marius Moecklin, and Aodhan Otterson, and “Spark” Advisors Katherine Ash and Yekaterina McKenney, and teachers Madeline Mullen and Bryan Yeaton.

“Poetry is a powerful tool for self-expression, and ‘Sparks Fly’ provided our students the venue to share their passion and find their voice,” Superintendent Nadeau said. “Congratulations to all involved in the event, and we hope for more celebrations of literature in the future.”
